A man was rescued from the coast path between Rickham Common and Mill Bay, East Portlemouth, after suffering a fit.
Dartmouth and Prawle Point Coastguard Search and Rescue Teams, South Western Ambulance Service, David Hampden Smith from the East Prawle Community First Responder Group and the Devon Air Ambulance were all called to the scene where a man was thought to be suffering a stroke. It is now thought that he suffered with a brain tumour and had a fit while walking.
Josh Gardener, Coastguard Rescue Officer with the Prawle Point team, said: “The man had a brain tumour and apparently had fit. The Devon Air Ambulance took him to Exeter as that is where he is currently being treated.
“Many thanks to all involved today and remember in an emergency on or around the coastline, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.”
