Police and an ambulance were called to Embankment Road, Kingsbridge when a 71-year-old man on a bike was hit by a car this morning.At 8.40am, police received a call from ambulance control to ask for attendance at the scene, where it is believed that the sunshine was a contributing factor in the collision.Upon the police's arrival, the cyclist was being tended to by an off-duty nurse. First aid was provided at the scene by police, traffic was controlled, and the incident was investigated.An ambulance arrived at 9.25am and the man was taken to hospital with a suspected broken hip or pelvis.A police spokesperson said: "It is believed that the bright dazzling sunshine was a contributory factor in this incident. Please bear this in mind at sunrise and sunset as the sun can be very low and bright at this time of year. Reduce your speed and be extra vigilant of hazards.
