Get those dancing shoes on for Dartmouth Rock’s winter concert.
The fundraising concert to raise money for Dartmouth Caring and Sands is taking place in St Saviours Church, Dartmouth on Saturday, December 8.
Dartmouth Caring helps elderly and vulnerable local people to live happy, vibrant lives, connecting the isolated and improving health and wellbeing and Sands is the stillborn and neonatal deaths charity.
Performing will be Dartmouth’s much loved a-cappella pop/rock choir who formed in April 2013 and gave their first performance the following year in The Flavel.
The group made their debut at the Dart Music Festival two months later and are delighted to have appeared at every festival since then.
At the upcoming concert, the group will perform a fun and lively mix of classic and contemporary pop/rock songs including a few old favourites and some new songs, all sung in glorious a-cappella harmony.
Every autumn Dartmouth Rock likes to give a fundraising concert, varying the choice of charity each time.
Dartmouth Rock gave a donation to Dartmouth Caring in April 2013 to specifically support the newly formed Musical Memory Cafe and since then the choir has continued its support by attending a couple of times a year.
This time the donation to Dartmouth Caring will be used in whichever area it is most needed.
Choir leader, Jean Judge said: “With dwindling NHS resources, we are very aware of just how important the services that Dartmouth Caring provide are for the residents of the town and surrounding villages and it’s vital to ensure they continue.”
The other charity, Sands, was chosen after a daughter of a choir member lost her baby half an hour after being born. The whole family has been supported by Sands so the choir decided to make a donation to this national charity as well.
Tickets are available from four outlets in the town-Dartmouth Visitor Centre, No 11 Clothing, The Compass Office Shop, The Compass Book shop and will be available on the door.
