Top primary school designers teamed up with a local garden centre.
Blackawton primary school joined forces with Gardentime for a unique project where the pupils were asked to design a bag for life which would promote healthy eating.
The pupils created an array of colourful and bold designs for the judging which took place last week and to be used on the design for the garden centre’s new bags for life.
In first place was Amelia Wallace’s ‘Alphabet of Healthy Eating’ design, which will be printed on the bags which will be for sale in the Gardentime’s new farm shop and at Blackawton school. All money raised during the project will be going towards the school's global citizens club.
Felicity Mason finished second with her ‘Fruit and Vegetables are Healthy’ design and in third place was Summer Wilson with her ‘ABC’ creation.
All three were VIPs at the opening of the new farm shop at Gardentime last weekend and all received a propagator and seeds. Amelia also cut the ribbon to open the shop.
As a thank you, Gardentime presented the school with a cheque for £150.
Chris from Gardentime said: “I see the Bag for Life design competition as just the start of a relationship with the school to help and encourage an interest in nature and healthy eating.”
