Katie Swan, fundraising and publicity manager, Animals in Distress, writes:

Rescue dog Lucy and I went along to the meeting of the 1st Dartmouth Brownies recently to collect a cheque for the money the girls had raised for Animals in Distress.

I was completely floored when they presented us with £644.40 for the animals in our care.

The Brownies raised this incredible amount by doing a sponsored walk from Little Dartmouth to Castle and back. They combined this with completing their agility badge, so in addition to the walk they were doing star jumps, balancing on one leg, hoola-hooping and more.

On behalf of everyone, and everything, at the rescue centre, I would like to say thank you to the 1st Dartmouth Brownies and the troop leaders for their amazing fundraising efforts.

Without the support of local groups such as the 1st Dartmouth Brownies, Animals in Distress simply wouldn’t

be able to take in, care for

and rehome more than 600 domestic animals every year. The cats, dogs, rabbits and guinea pigs at the rescue centre come to us through no fault of their own and they are all deserving of a second chance at a happy, loving home.

Animals in Distress exists to care for them and find them that new home.

Thanks to the 1st Dartmouth Brownies, we will be able to help even more animals in need.
