Dartmouth Community Chest held a Christmas lunch for anyone on their own or in need of help during the festive season.
The charitable organisation which helps low income families or people struggling in the local area provided a free lunch on Christmas Day at Townstal Community Hall.
On Tuesday, December 25, Dartmouth Community Chest, led by Dawn Shepherd, fed 39 people at the hall and delivered hampers to others who couldn’t make it on the day.
Dawn said: “It was lovely, we made a little sitting room with a sofa, TV etc. for pensioners to sit and watch Christmas films.
“The volunteers worked so hard the week leading up and on the day. Some came back on Boxing Day to help scrub clean the hall.”
She said there was a “real community spirit” on the day around the town and villages.
“Our volunteers work hard all year round, but to give up Christmas Day with their own families to help others is amazing” added Dawn.
Ash Rescue Centre donated some flowers for the festive lunch and Woofstock donated a doggie present.
