Year 11 students from Dartmouth Academy which is part of Education South West have celebrated reaching the end of their secondary school journey this month.
The pupils marked the end of the GCSE exam period at a prom organised by staff members Jody Brown, Nicola Perrott and Vicki Hart.
The prom was held at the Best Western The Dartmouth Hotel, Golf and Spa and the pupils arrived via a variety of transport options, including on horses and motorbikes and in limos and sports cars.
The Year 11s chose to hire a Year 10 pupil, DJ OC, as their DJ and he did a brilliant job of filling the dance floor.
One boy even went as far as to say it was the best night of his life!
The young people are now awaiting their GCSE results and they will reunite at Dartmouth Academy next month to find out their grades.
Nicola Perrott, Assistant Principal, at Dartmouth Academy said:
“It was a pleasure to help organise this year’s prom.
I know how hard all the pupils have worked and it’s brilliant to see them let their hair down and have some fun at the end of the year.”
Paul Girardot, Principal at Dartmouth Academy said:
“Many congratulations to this year’s leavers.
“It’s always a sentimental time when it comes to a group of young people leaving us and going on to their next steps.
“I wish all our pupils well with whatever path they are choosing to follow, I hope the education and support we have provided them has prepared them for success.”
Matthew Shanks, CEO of Education South West said:
“I am delighted to hear that Dartmouth’s Year 11s had such an enjoyable prom.
Leaving secondary school is a pivotal moment in a child’s life and I know that Mr Girardot and his team have done a wonderful job in preparing these young people for what comes next.”
