The Environment Agency has issued flood alerts across the South Hams as heavy rainfall hits the region.
The alerts, in place for South Devon, the River Dart area and from Start Point to Dawlish Warren are in force from Wednesday (October 30) evening to Thursday morning.
The Met Office issued two yellow weather warnings for heavy rain in the same period.
It predicts 40 to 60mm of rain could fall in South Devon, with forecasters saying flooding is possible.
Strong easterly winds are also predicted along the coastline.
The Environment Agency's full warning can be read below.
South Devon Rivers
“Flooding to low lying land and roads is possible on Wednesday evening and into Thursday morning,” the Environment Agency say.
“Heavy rain falling across Dartmoor is forecast to continue throughout Wednesday evening, which is expected to cause rivers in the area to rise.
“Flooding is possible between 8pm Wednesday and 9am Thursday and could affect Ivybridge, South Brent, Ermington, Avonwick, Aveton Gifford, Kingsbridge, Harbertonford and Dartmouth.
“This is based on a forecast, there is still some uncertainty regarding the exact locations which will be most affected.
“Our incident response staff are closely monitoring the situation, checking flood defences and clearing trash screens.
“Do not walk or drive through floodwater. Avoid low lying roads and footpaths, which may be flooded.”
River Dart Area

“Flooding is possible between 8pm on Wednesday and 9am on Thursday and could affect Dartmeet, Ashburton, Buckfastleigh, Totnes, Brixham, Torquay and Paignton.
“This is based upon a forecast but there is still some uncertainty regarding the exact locations which will be most affected.
“Our incident response staff are closely monitoring the situation, checking flood defences and clearing trash screens.
“Do not walk or drive through floodwater. Avoid low lying roads and footpaths, which may be flooded.”
Start Point to Dawlish Warren
“Flooding is possible on Wednesday evening,” the Environment Agency say.
“High tide at Teignmouth on Wednesday evening is 8.04pm, times of high water will vary along the coast.
“High spring tides and Force 6 easterly winds are forecast and may cause wave overtopping of sea defences and sea spray in exposed coastal locations.
“People are advised to stay away from risk areas and take care next to the coast.”
The Environment Agency will update the alerts on Thursday morning or as the situation changes.
