A family of fundraisers is hoping Friday the 13th will not be unlucky for them. Chris Justice and his wife Marion, who comes from Stoke Fleming, along with their daughter Tanya are today embarking on a mad-cap motoring challenge across Europe. They will be among a number of teams of intrepid adventurers who will gather in Weymouth to set off on the next exciting Windy 500 International Driving Experience. The following 16 days will take them through various European countries on an action-packed trip before returning to England on Sunday, June 29 – 'tired, emotional and talking non-stop about all they have seen and done'. This is will include mountain ranges, stunning coastline, fascinating cities, some amazing driving roads and a wealth of experiences along the way. As was last year, the route has been kept under wraps and is revealed to competitors on a daily basis. The only itinerary given so far is the 23.59 Dover to Dunkirk ferry. Marion, whose late parents Marjorie and Edward Yabsley ran Redlap Farm in Stoke Fleming where she and her brothers were brought up, said she still kept in touch with many friends in the area. 'Mum was always involved in a lot of charity work and it's a bit like following in her footsteps,' she said. 'But we are also doing it because we are mad and love a challenge.' Teams can spend no more than £500 on a vehicle for the 3,500-mile journey and the Justice's, who now live in Broadstone, Bournemouth, will be travelling in a 1998 Rover Regency Limousine. 'The car was an ex-funeral car and was advertised for banger racing or for spares, due to having blown head gaskets and a sump full of water,' said Marion. Now made roadworthy, the family has christened the vehicle Stu. The event's main nominated beneficiary is Julia's House, care for terminally ill children, but the Justice team called Just Ice Cool is splitting donations equally with Lewis Manning Hospice, palliative care nursing.
