Commencing next Monday, road closures through Frogmore will effect school buses and everyday traffic, replaced by a long diversion towards Dartmouth.

Due to drainage works on the A379 through Frogmore, while Devon County Council replace a drainage pipe, the road will be closed from Monday, September 18, until Friday, September 22.

For drivers heading this way there is a diversion of twenty four and a half miles that will direct you round the obstacle, however this is a large chunk of extra time as it takes you back towards Dartmouth. Devon County Council explain that this diversion is necessary as an A road has been closed which requires an A road diversion.

The diversion takes you to Slapton Line, through Strete, Stoke Fleming and back on the Dartmouth Road to Totnes Cross and then back through to Kingsbridge on the Totnes Road. Precise details can be found on the Devon County Council website. However, if you have local knowledge of the surrounding area, then feel free to take a shorter diversion off the A roads to save time. The council understand that many locals will know these routes and will prefer to take this diversion.

For children who catch the bus along the route from Dartmouth to Kingsbridge there are some changes to their journey. There are two services from Dartmouth in the morning that leave at 7.30am. One goes directly to Kingsbridge to arrive at 8.15am and the other service goes via Torcross to arrive in Kingsbridge at 8.40am.

For students who usually catch this bus who have Tally Ho bus passes there is a service running from Chillington via Stokenham into school. The times from each stop are as follows: Chillington: Coombe Meadows/Robins Field(7.30am), Chillington: Post Office(7.33am), Chillington: Fairfield Way (7.34am), Stokenham: Holbrook Terrace(7.39am), Stokenham: Carehouse Cross(7.41am), Stokenham: Church House Inn(7.42am) and Stokenham: Torcross Stores(7.45am). This will get the students into school at 8.40am.

Those students with a stagecoach bus pass who usually catch the bus from Frogmore Bridge, Chilliington Post Office or Carehouse Cross will have to catch the bus to Torcross at 7.44am, 7.49am and 7.55am respectively. This gets them to Torcross for 8am there they can catch the 8.20am bus from Torcross to Kingsbridge, arriving at 8.40am.
