The cruise ship Oceana Nautica paid her first visit to Dartmouth on Thursday (July 11).

A local delegation went aboard led by Mayor Cllr David Wells and there was a small group of volunteer cruise ship meet-and-greeters/Dartmouth Ambassadors from The Visitor Centre supporting The Dart Harbour Authority.

The ship wasn’t able to make it into the Dart so was "parked" just off the castle in the mouth of the river.

The guests were brought into town via tenders but the sea was calm and the sun was mostly shining.

Activities for the approx 600 people (mostly from America) included a steam Train/round robin tour, river cruise, ferry to Greenway, Slapton area tour and many did their own thing.

MS Nautica was built in 2000 as part of the Regatta Class and she is now owned and operated by Oceana Cruises.

She was built in 2000 by the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint Nazaire, France.
