A protest against the closure of Dartmouth Hospital and the privatisation of the NHS has been planned for Regatta week.
The Women of Dartmouth and District group has planned the protest for Wednesday, August 29, and invited everyone to show their support.
As a continuation from the group’s previous campaign, it is asking people to join them to send the message that “we want our hospital services restored”.
The main event of the protest day will commence at 2pm in the form of a protest march leaving Townstal Community Hall and walking down from the top of town collecting more protesters along the way.
Everyone is welcome to join in the march with banners and placards and the march will terminate at the Hospital. The group is encouraging people to wear red if possible.
In addition, the group will be at the hospital from 8am on the Wednesday of Dartmouth Regatta and has invited people to chain themselves to the building or claim a brick of the hospital as the campaign group did in July.
A spokesman for the group commented: “Absolutely everyone welcome…we also welcome other groups from all over Devon to join us on our day of protest.”
