In your article 'Dart pollution fine for caravan park' I was appalled to read of the irresponsible and inept handling of this situation by both Hashmere Park Ltd and the Environment Agency.
What sort of Environment Agency is it that lets disgusting and severe sewage pollution into our local river for so long? Why did they not deal with this as soon as the water treatment works failed their first tests, instead of waiting four or five years?
Who knows how many eco-systems have been irrepairably damaged? And why was the caravan site owned by Hashmere Park Ltd not closed down altogether? Sure, they've been given a hefty fine, but their evident disregard for the aquatic wildlife here merits that they should never be allowed to trade again and I'm sure I'm not the only person who feels like this. I'd like to hear the views of a person who can provide a convincing reason why Hashmere Park Ltd are still allowed to trade?
