So the rightly maligned Star of Dartmouth has finally found its true resting place – face down at low tide in the mud of the Boatfloat.
It was perfect timing to show Dartmouth off at its best on one of the busiest nights of the year.
Not even any virgins or wise men showing up to justify its appearance in the not-lit-up sky.
Not necessarily, I hasten to add, because Dartmouth is lacking either group but simply because the star would been as equally as useful had a white elephant been floated in there.
Time long past for the harbourmaster to tow out to sea and sink this danger to shipping.
Happy New Year all and here is some good news for 2013 – Malfunction Junction (Dartmouth Town Council) is alive and well and spending your money.
