DARTMOUTH Golf Club seniors played their season-ending Love Cup on Monday, October 7, within an individual Stableford competition.

Only those who had won a qualifying event during the golfing year could win the Cup with the highest score but the Stableford was open to all. In effect, this was primarily an all-winners competition with two events running in parallel.

29 seniors took part in this qualifier off the blue tees on the Championship Course with course handicap the benchmark along with the standard 95% equity allowance. This was also the last event for which points were available for the senior of the year.

Current Love Cup holder Mark Gannon was not among the starters so a new name will be on the cup this year!

It was ‘Radar’ Roy Baldwin who took this accolade by finishing third in the competition (38 points, gross 85)- underpinning his individual win in the memorial tournament two weeks ago. Many congratulations to Roy who has obviously hit a rich vein of form at the right time.

Andrew Dix wins the parallel Stableford competition with a stunning gross 79, blighted only by a double bogey at the awkward fourth hole. The remaining issue concerned the senior of the year (SOY) title where the top two Messrs Bonser & Garner were battling it out.

As neither featured in the event top ten and were thus pointless in this respect, the title went to leader Gary Bonser who has played some impressive golf throughout the season. Very well done Sir!

And so ends another golfing senior year with some highs and lows for everyone. We look forward to 24/25 and to keeping you updated with our progress through this column.

Stableford overall results: Andrew Dix (43pts), Robert Wotton (39pts), Roy Baldwin (38pts), Colin Cooper (37pts), Ian Black (37pts) and Stephen Haupt (36pts).

Division One was won by Andrew Dix ahead of Roy Baldwin whilst Robert Wotton topped Division Two, edging out Paul Stubbs.

One Birdie two was scored by Mark Whitworth at the par three eighteenth.

Nigel Osborne with his inimitable style tallied the scores and downloaded the data so many thanks to him.

now for the final Senior of the Year standings after the 21 events have been and gone.
