THE annual fun three clubs and a putter was given an airing at Dartmouth GC.
Colin Cooper won last time, in 2022, with a meagre 34 points, but he was absent from the field this time around so it was all to play for.
A wettish weekend meant conditions were not ideal but there were some excellent scores record amongst the 37 entrants all the same.
None more so than Robert Wotton who carved out a 25-point outward nine backed by 14 on the more difficult inward nine, giving a day’s best score of 39. This was two clear of nearest competitor Paul Stubbs whereas Ian Black topped Division One on 35 points, ahead of George Reeve (34).
The last fixture of the friendlies matches for Dartmouth seniors proved to be a very one-sided affair. Dartmouth previously won 3.5-2.5 away at China Fleet and smashed the home fixture 5.5-0.5. A 5&4 win for David Sparks and Steve Fishburn deserves a mention but the outstanding result was an 8&6 win for Robert Gibbs and Bernard Taylor.
Well done to the whole team for their overall 9-3 win.
Across the season, there were nine wins, four losses and one draw in the friendlies for the seniors. The goal for 2025 is to recover the much-coveted Tamar Cup that was lost to St. Mellion after 10 years at Dartmouth.
Next Monday sees a fun pairs competition with the final leg of the South Devon Seniors League hosted by Dartmouth on Thursday, September 12.
