Three members of Dartmouth Amateur Athletic Club took on the breezy conditions to take part in the Dart Vale 10k and half-marathon races last weekend.
The race started and finished in Kingsteignton, with the various routes taking in the iconic ball clay works and extending into the picturesque Teign valley.
The three DAAC runners ended up being extremely glad they didn't take on the full marathon, as the rain and thunder, while missing them, set in for the longer distance athletes.
In the 10k event, John Hart recorded a new personal best of 42.57 to finish 28th out of 223 runners.
In the half-marathon distance, Terry Wallis went round the course in 1.55.08 to finish 118th, and Marie Jones recorded a time of 2.01.23 to finish first in her class and 144rd overall.
