Carlsberg South West Peninsula League Premier Division Ivybridge Town 0, Dartmouth 0
IVYBRIDGE Town face the prospect of three home matches in a week from tomorrow as they battle to avoid the drop. They take on a powerful Plymouth Parkway outfit at 3pm tomorrow, face the Royal Marines at 7.30pm on Tuesday and then host Saltash at 7.30pm next Friday.Town boss Brian Howard has cause to be cheerful, though, given that his second-from-bottom side have four games in hand over the team above them, St Blazey. The Greens were just one point behind Blazey on Wednesday, after they secured a vital point at home to local rivals Dartmouth. On the flip side, however, Town will be without key forwards Dennis Mason and Jamie Middleton and defender Josh Zimmerman for tomorrow's Parkway visit.Ex-Parkway player Mason has a hip injury, which is taking time to clear up, Middleton has work commitments and Zimmerman is away.'I think a point was a fair reflection of the game,' said Howard on Wednesday, after the draw with Dartmouth. 'They (Dartmouth) had the better of the first 30 minutes and had one or two half chances, but we were the better side in the second half.'Howard has also had to contend with well-documented and continual problems with the Erme Valley pitch, which was relaid last year and which has cut up badly when it's rained.A host of postponements have resulted, including one last Saturday when Town were due to host Royal Marines.'We had 20 minutes of unbelievable rain about an hour before kick-off,' Howard pointed out. 'It was as if someone had pushed a button from above and said: "Have some of that!". There was no way the pitch could recover in time – even established pitches couldn't have coped with the rain. I think someone has got it in for me!'
