Ashmoor Men's 2nd XI. 9

North Devon Men's 2nd XI. 0

IT was another great attacking performance by the Ashmoor 2nd team who managed to rack up nine goals for the second week running, this time against a hapless North Devon 2nd team.

A brace from Reuben Stanley (pictured courtesy of Mark Lockett Photography) and strikes from Cellan Stokes and Matt Pearce had them on their way at half-time.

Second-half strikes from Tom Barnett, Jake Cawthorne and Dan Cowdry put the game to bed with Pearce getting a second and Stanley completing his hat-trick.

Tom Faulkner was named as player of the match after a tireless midfield performance but it was a strong team outing.

Next up, the league-leading 2nd team host second-placed University of Exeter in a fascinating encounter.

Exeter Men's 3rd XI. 2

Ashmoor Men's 3rd XI. 4

Ashmoor men's 3s had a convincing win against a strong Exeter Hockey Club side on Saturday, despite only having a bare XI at their disposal.

Ashmoor were awarded a penalty corner within the opening five minutes, which Jordan Teague slotted home putting Ashmoor ahead. Ashmoor dominated the game with strong performances from Harry Little marshalling the midfield, aided by Sam James as an overlapping right back who’s pace allowed him to glide past the Exeter defenders, setting up numerous chances.

Seth Turner's outstanding performance and skill meant no-one could get anywhere near him, leaving the opposition to wonder how they could get the ball back.

After halftime Exeter equalised, but Teague added to his goal tally with a brilliant reverse strike to restore the lead. The home side equalised against the run of play again, before player of the match Harry Easthope scored two goals to give Ashmoor all three points.

There was also a promising 3rd team debut for fellow young player Ernie Hunt.

This weekend the men's 3rds have a break from league action, before resuming on March 1, with a home game against Ocean City.

Ashmoor Men's 4th Development XI. 1

Exeter Men's 4th XI. 2

Skippered by their returning captain James Bromfield, Ashmoor men's 4th team had an evenly contested match played in good spirits with their Exeter counterparts.

Going into the last quarter of the match, honours were even with Toby Cowdry getting the Ashmoor goal, however Exeter took the spoils with a late goal.

Overall it was a good performance, setting the team up for their rearranged match with Isca this Saturday, before the Interclub clash with the women's 1st XI the following week!
