DARTMOUTH AFC fell to a single-goal deficit for the second weekend in a row in the Devon Football League.
Numerous fixtures fell foul of the weather over the weekend but not the Dart’s home clash with Beer Albion.
Aaron Daniels scored the only goal of the game at Longcross as Beer Albion moved further clear of Dartmouth and went into second place, ahead of University of Exeter. That being said, the university side have a whopping seven games in hand on them to make up three points, also boasting four games in hand on league leaders Alphington.
The week prior, Robbie Bowker’s side suffered a surprise defeat at the hands of strugglers Ipplepen Athletic, losing 3-2, but this one is a lot more palatable.
Talking of the ‘Pens and they were involved in one of the two other games to take place on Saturday, February 15. Having beaten Dartmouth 3-2, the same score line arose for them but this time they were on the receiving end, losing to Appledore after the sides were tied at two apiece at the break. Matt Bryce, James Harley and Jason McGinley scored the Appledore goals.
Plymouth Marjon and Plymstock United were involved in the third and final fixture and despite the pair being at opposite ends of the table, it ended honours even.
13th-placed Plymstock earned a point on the road against the fourth-placed team thanks to a Jayden Preece goal with Lewie Rendle seeing red for the away side.
Looking ahead to this coming weekend and assuming the weather won’t have a say once again, Dartmouth will have an instant opportunity to respond as they head to Beer Albion for the reverse fixture.
Other DFL games include Bere Alston United vs Alphington, Newtown vs Topsham Town and Plymstock United vs Thorverton.
